My Friends,
“Consecrate them in truth”. This is what Jesus says in today’s Gospel to His Heavenly Father about His followers. You and I are consecrated in that same truth.
Truth is what Jesus had taught His followers and lived by His example. Being a member of Christ, we are safeguarded and protected by His guidance and direction. Living according to the ways of Christ can only bring us good things- peace, hope, happiness and joy. You and I certainly can use an abundance of these beautiful gifts from God especially during these trying times. The Lord gives them and more besides to those who call Him as their Master and Savior and live as best they can His life in their daily lives.
May Christ be praised and may we never give up hope.
God Bless,
Father John
St. Paul gives his congregation, the people of Ephesus, a pep talk. He reminds them of how hard he worked with them in their struggle to accept the faith. Now he must leave them and warns them of those who would undermine all he did and try to lead them astray.
He reminds them to hold fast to the same truth that Jesus speaks of in the Gospel. Truth is believing in Jesus that He is truly the Son of God and that faith in Him and following Him by performing good works will merit us eternal life.
May we hold steadfast to the faith of our forebears and always be alert and wary of anything or anyone that can lead us away from the Lord and His teachings.
