Dear Friends,
My daily prayers are for you to be well, be strong and continue praying for one another and for an end to this horrific scourge. I know and firmly believe that the Lord is with us every step of the way and to never forget as the refrain from today’s Responsorial Psalm says: O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge.
God Bless all of you!
Father John
The people in the first reading are plotting to kill the prophet Jeremiah who turns to the Lord for comfort and consolation. The people in the Gospel haven’t a clue as to who Christ is - whether He’s a prophet or the real Savior. They just doubt that the Savior could come from Galilee.
The Responsorial Psalm tells it all. O Lord, in you I take refuge. This Jesus, this great Prophet, this Man of God who was the Son of God is the one whom all the prophets foretold. When we hear the word, refuge, we think of safety and protection.
The Lord is the one who serves as our source of comfort and consolation at all times especially during these very unsettling times. When we have difficulties, when we have pain, when we have stress, Christ is the one who is always there to brings us peace and comfort us.
Christ calls us to place our hearts and souls in His hands and He will take care of us. Unlike the people of the Gospel, you and I know that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and calls us to follow Him and He will provide for us.
As the Lord provides for us, may you and I follow His example and do what we can to be a source of strength and protection to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
