My Friends,
What a wonderful way to start my day celebrating Mass with some of our parishioners for the first time in almost three months. God be praised!
The Responsorial Psalm’s refrain for today’s Mass is: Keep me safe O God; you are my hope. That has been our mantra for the past three months. Keep us safe Lord.
You and I have gone through difficult moments I’m sure during these times of trial and unrest. None of us experienced anything of this nature. But through it all, we remained focused, focused on the Only One who could help us through this and of course that is Jesus. Our faith is what saves us; our faith keeps us peaceful; our faith keeps us centered and empowers us with all we need to live in a positive spirit in the midst of all of this.
If you can, join us for weekday Mass, Monday through Saturday 8 am and 12 noon. Wear your mask and maintain social distance.
Sts. Peter and Paul and St. Ursula, pray for us!
God Bless,
Father John
The Psalmist in our Responsorial Psalm tells us: Keep me safe O God; You are my hope. This is what you and I need to cling to. Jesus and Jesus alone has the answers you and I need to live peacefully in a crazy and distorted society. The Psalmist says: they multiply their sorrows who court other gods. Some of us might do that at times. Money, possessions, cars can become the center of our lives instead of the Lord. Sometimes these “gods’ sneak up on us and we don’t even realize they are taking possession of our lives.
The only One who should possess us is Christ. He wants to take possession of our hearts so that we are more and more attuned to Him and His teaching. What you and I need to do is to take a good look at ourselves; we need to do some spiritual searching inside of ourselves and see exactly where we stand in our lives. Are our lives centered and focused on the things of this world or are we on the right road that leads to peace and happiness, the road that leads to Christ? That’s the question each of us needs to ask ourselves as we sit quietly and look at a crucifix.
